The Chattered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has said that its activities have been largely affected by the cash crunch in Nigeria's economy and the low importation activities at the ports.
Executive Director of the CILT, Mr. Paul Ndube in a chat with Shipping Position Daily last week said that recent policies churned out by the government have affected the institution, especially in area of holding training workshops for stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Ndube told our correspondent that the CILT is having a week-long workshop with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from Monday (today) through Friday for its officers. He said the workshop will be declared open by the INEC chairman.
Speaking on the low activity in training, he said, "the lack of liquid in the maritime sector and the economy at large has affected our operations. Government is the biggest spender and government is having problems with spending. The CILT has been affected in so many ways, especially financially"
"All the government agencies have not been releasing money, and they only recently got their budget signed almost at half year, so you can see that the challenges are real" he said
