Clearing agents at the nation’s seaport of Tin Can and Apapa command are grappling with significant challenges due to ongoing server downtime since last Thursday.
Shipping Position Daily gathered that the server downtime started last Thursday and is yet to be resolved.
Members of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Tin Can chapter who in a chat with our correspondent expressed their distress, highlighting the adverse effects on the clearance of goods from the port.
Speaking to our correspondent, Onome Monije, a member of ANLCA Tin Can chapter, revealed the plight faced by young freight forwarders due to the extended server downtime.
She explained that these professionals have encountered abuse and arrests by the Nigerian Police Force as a result of Importers, suspecting foul play, noting that many of them have been accused by agents of swindling them of their money.
Monije urgently calls on the customs management to address this critical issue, emphasizing the need for swift resolution to alleviate the hardships faced by clearing agents and prevent further damage to their reputation.
On his part also, a clearing Festus Akogu lamented that he was just recently released by his importer who didn’t believe there is a server downtime.
He urged the Customs management to as matter of urgency resolve the lingering server downtime issue
