A clearing Agent was yesterday killed by a moving crane during the process of repositioning his container for examination at the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Phase 1.
The fatal accident occurred yesterday afternoon a reliable source from the KLT Command inform our Correspondent that one Ikechukwu Kennedy from Imo State who is the first son of his parents was killed by a moving crane during the process of repositioning his container for examination.
The source further said that the late Ikechukwu Kennedy was directing the movement of the crane to position his container to be dropped for examination by the Customs when the incident happened.
When our correspondent put a call to confirm the incident, Mr Isaac who is the Terminal Manager of the Joechil terminal, phase 1 said he is somewhere now very busy.
It was also alleged that the equipment that led to the death of the Customs Broker might have been faulty and malfunctioning.
The late Ikechukwu Kennedy is said to be a strong member of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) KLT chapter the association stated yesterday that his remains has already being mobilised to be taken to the Naval mortuary at Boundary, Ajegunle.

Meanwhile the President of ANLCA, Hon Tony Iju Nwabunike has described the death as unfortunate stating that the association is already working on finding out the company the young man worked for.
He noted that the incident is one of the hazards in the profession, no (security or life insurance), he prayed that the young man soul rest in peace.
