The Nigeria Customs Service has reiterated that its ongoing recruitment process is still in progress, amid growing public concern over delays and rising cases of fraudulent recruitment schemes.
Recall that the Service had earlier announced plans to conduct a nationwide recruitment exercise, which generated significant interest among applicants. Following the initial announcement, there were expectations around shortlisting and subsequent stages of the process, although no recent official update has been provided on these phases.
Responding to enquiries, the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, confirmed that work is still ongoing.
“We are on it. Whenever we are ready, we will make it public. The public should be wary of fake recruitment processes going on across various social media platforms,” he stated.
The delay in providing fresh updates has, however, created a vacuum increasingly exploited by fraudsters, who have been circulating fake recruitment notices and soliciting payments from unsuspecting applicants.
Stakeholders have called for more timely communication from the Service, noting that clear updates on stages such as shortlisting and screening would help curb misinformation.
The Customs Service assured that all legitimate recruitment information will be communicated through its official channels and urged the public to remain vigilant.
