Comptroller Yusuf, while reflecting on the accomplishments of the Command in 2023, highlighted its success in fulfilling core mandates such as revenue generation, facilitation of legitimate trade, anti-smuggling activities, and ensuring national security. He emphasized the overall success of the Command, attributing it to the collective efforts in meeting these essential objectives.
The efficiency in service delivery, Comptroller Yusuf noted, was greatly enhanced through regular meetings with critical stakeholders. These engagements provided a platform for in-depth discussions on issues affecting various segments of the supply chain, leading to collaborative solutions.
The Customs Area Controller underscored the significance of these meetings in preaching compliance and receiving valuable feedback. The forum served as an avenue for sharing ideas, aligning with government objectives, and upholding respective mandates as dictated by enabling laws. Importantly, it contributed to intelligence-sharing to prevent and detect crimes in the national interest, ultimately safeguarding against revenue loss.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the officers and men of the Command, Comptroller Yusuf extended deep appreciation to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and the entire management team. He acknowledged their unwavering support, inspiring leadership, and guidance that have steered the Command toward increased productivity and success in fulfilling its crucial responsibilities.
