The Controller Nigeria Customs Service, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara Area Command, Alhaji Usman Kankara has said that his command has intensified border patrol as a strategy to curb smuggling.
Usman told the NA) in Sokoto, Sokoto state last week that smuggling would be minimised in the Area as the personnel was ready to arrest and prosecute offenders.
He explained that an operational order had since been issued on how to curtail the menace.

Kankara said efforts would also be made to prevent the importation of illegal arms into the country.
He expressed the determination to surpass the N720 million yearly target given to the Command by its headquarters.
According to him, all efforts will be geared towards enhancing revenue generation to meet the Federal Government's revenue target.
The customs boss appealed to licensed agents to ensure prompt payment of duties.
