The Association of Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) last week, said that the land acquisition scheme for empty containers is still in the process of being concretized.
The National President of ANLCA, Mr Tony Iju Nwabunike said this in a chat with Shipping Position Daily last week in Lagos.
It will be recalled that logistics solutions outfit; Aqua Transit Services Ltd, in partnership with other critical stakeholders in the supply chain like, the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the Association of Maritime Road Transport Owners (AMARTO) is finding solutions to the problem of container loading bay through Private Sector Initiatives (PSI).
Speaking on the progress on the scheme so far after several meetings, the ANLCA President said that the scheme is still an embryo, even as he declined to speak further.
“We are still at the embryo of that scheme, so I would not like to talk about it now. I don’t want to say anything about it for now” he said.
Meanwhile, a former president of NAGAFF, Dr. Eugene Nweke, also said the deal is still too early seal, he said the parties were still talking.
“Can you please allow the process to flow? We are articulating a concept, let it come out of incubation period first” he ended.
Similarly, the chairman of the Association of Maritime Road Transport Owners (AMARTO) Chief Remi Ogungbemi told our correspondent in a chat last week that the scheme is still a mare discussion , adding that money has not exchanged hands yet.
