The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his first anniversary in office. In a statement, MARAN President Godfrey Bivbere and Secretary Babajide Okeowo praised Adeniyi for exceeding expectations and living up to the responsibilities entrusted to him.
The association noted that before his appointment, the customs service was in dire need of a professional leader. However, Adeniyi has successfully repositioned the service, achieving significant milestones in revenue generation, collaboration with other agencies, and reigniting professionalism.
MARAN also noted that Adeniyi’s appointment was met with relief and high expectations, given his background as a career service officer. “He has performed beyond expectation, repositioning the service for optimal performance,” Bivbere said.
Okeowo commended Adeniyi for fostering collaboration with other agencies, setting a good precedent for inter-agency cooperation. “His ability to foster collaboration is a testament to his vast knowledge and acceptance,” Okeowo said.
MARAN wishes Adeniyi continued success in repositioning the customs service
