The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has also joined other industry stakeholders to mourn the demise of Otunba Kunle Folarin, who died on Tuesday at the age of 82.
The union, in a statement made available to our correspondent and signed by the Deputy Secretary General, Comrade Oniha Odigie, said the leadership and its entire membership are deeply saddened by the death of Otunba Folarin, “a cherished and highly respected supporter of the union.”
The union added that his death represents an enormous loss to the maritime sector and to the entire union.
“We want to recognise his many interventions which ushered-in good work regimes for the dockworkers and other port users.
“Until his death he represented a walking repository of maritime knowledge and filled us with zeal and zest.
“We join his family, friends and well-meaning Nigerians to celebrate a life well-lived in service of humanity” the statement reads.
