The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced the promotion of nine senior officials to the rank of Director, alongside 234 other staff across various grades, in what the agency described as part of its commitment to staff welfare and merit-based career progression.
According to a press statement issued by Mr. Osagie Edward, the newly-promoted Deputy Director and Head of Public Relations who was formerly Assistant Director in the same role, the promotion exercise was ratified by the Governing Board of NIMASA.
The agency confirmed that 30 Assistant Directors were elevated to Deputy Directors, 35 Chief Officers moved up to the rank of Assistant Directors, while 169 other staff members across different departments were promoted to higher grade levels.
Among the newly-appointed Directors are Mrs. Moji Jimoh, Coordinator of the Abuja Liaison Office; Dr. Odunayo Ani, Director of Internal Audit; Mrs. Nneka Obianyor, Special Adviser to the Director General; Mrs. Biodun Fatade, Director of Procurement; Dr. Oma Ofodile; Ms. Gloria Anyasodo; Mr. Abdulahi Yelwa; Mr. Umar Buba; and Mr. Umar Ibrahim Sidi.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, said the promotions were a demonstration of the agency’s resolve to sustain transparency, reward hard work, and encourage greater dedication to service.
“Our administration is committed to improved staff welfare. This promotion exercise is strictly merit-based, and we expect staff to reciprocate by rededicating themselves to higher productivity. We will continue to prioritize staff welfare while counting on your commitment to the ideals of the agency in helping Management actualize its mandate,” Mobereola stated.
He urged the newly elevated officials to view their promotion not just as recognition of past service, but also as a call to higher responsibility in advancing the mandate of the agency.
The promotion exercise, which cuts across various cadres of the workforce, is expected to further strengthen NIMASA’s operations at a time when the agency is pushing to reposition itself for greater efficiency in the nation’s maritime sector.
