Lagos Area Manager of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Engineer Sarat Braimah, has been honored with the “Most Influential Woman in Maritime” award by the Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBW-Africa).
The award, presented at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, on Monday night, recognizes her significant contributions to the maritime sector, her role as a mentor for aspiring young women in Nigeria, and her exemplary leadership as the first female Area Manager of NIWA in Lagos.
Engineer Braimah’s transformative impact on NIWA and her strong human resource management skills have earned her admiration from key stakeholders in the industry and the agency’s leadership.
In her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to inspiring young people, particularly women, to embrace opportunities in the maritime sector.
“Thank you, CBW-Africa. I pray that our women in the service of our country, Nigeria, and Africa, remain steadfast and resilient. Nigeria needs our women, and I pray that Nigerian women will always positively lead the way,” she stated.
