Mr Olakunle Osisanya, an Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), newly-deployed to oversee its Zone “ A” with its headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos State, has pledged effective land, air and marine border operations to Nigerians.
Osisanya made the pledge during an interactive session with newsmen on his assumption of duty as the new officer in charge of the zone on Wednesday in Lagos.
The Acting Comptroller-General of Immigration Service (ACGIS), Idris Jere , approved the redeployment of six ACGs to new assignments on Jan. 21.
The redeployment order was contained in a posting order with reference number NIS/ADM/4422/V/832/16 and dated Jan. 21.
The commands under the supervision of the zone include: Seme Command, Idiroko Special, Lagos State Command, Lagos Seaports and Marine Command, Murtala Muhammed Airport Command,
Lagos State Border Patrol Command , Ogun Command and the Passport Command.
Osisanya said that the Zone features, arguably, the busiest land , air and blue boarders in Nigeria.
He, therefore, said that his priority would be to galvanise the officers and men of NIS in the zone toward greater commitment to border security.
He stressed that the zone would ensure the provision of adequate logistics for border operations and full attainment of the e- border.
According to Osisanya, synergy with sister security agencies in the country and Benin Republic, collaboration with border communities as well as state , local and traditional authorities within its Area of Responsibility ( AOR) would not be underrated.
He added that the marine borders would be monitored emphatically to wage war against crooks who used the waterways to invade the county illegally and perpetrate evil acts.
He recalled that the zone accounted for the highest passport applications received and produced nation wide in the past.

He said the zone would consolidate on the recently introduced appointment system at all the give passport offices to improve service delivery.
“Already reports had indicated a reduction in the number of applicants that visit the passport offices,” he said.
On staff welfare, he said that the zone in collaboration with relevant stakeholders would continue to organise workshops and seminars for its officers.
“As a regimented service, we shall be guided by the provisions of Imm. Act 2015,” he , he said.
NAN f reports that Osisanya joined the NIS on Jan.4, 1988 and was commissioned as a member of the 19 Basic Course of the NIS Training School, Kano.
Until his recent redeployment, Osisanya was serving as the ACG in charge of General Service at the service headquarters, Abuja.
The service also described him as a multiple recipient of many awards for his contributions to service and the country.
