Product Supply: IPMAN Accuses PPMC, NNPC Of Insincerity

A clearer picture of the underhand dealings which take place within both the NNPC and PPMC over fuel supply was revealed last week by the outgoing national president of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Mr.Tunji Adeniji.
Speaking at the association’s general meeting which also saw the emergence of a new set of executives for the association, Adeniji alleged that a cabal within the NNPPC and IPMAN were feeding fat on the fuel supply chain.
According to him, more than N1 trillion that have so far spent on subsidy did not get to the public, but into the pockets of a “caucus within the system that has taken charge of everything.”

Apparently ready to spill the beans, the IPMAN top man declared: “ask questions. Why should there be demurrage at the ports? Why are things not done properly? Why are there a lot of inefficiencies in production, supply and distribution? Why are the refineries not working? Why do we delay these things and let them be a recurring decimal?”

According to him, the recent nation wide scarcity was occasioned by the fact that government reneged on a bulk purchase agreement it signed with independent marketers.
Under the agreement involved importation of 300,000 metric tonnes of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), 150,000 tonnes of kerosene and diesel, he disclosed but lamented that both the NNPC and PPMC reneged on the agreement.
The new officers who emerged at the end of the general meeting included: Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir; National President, Elder Chinedu Okonkwo; Vice President, Mike Osatuyi, National Secretary, Musa Mai Kifi; National Treasurer, Clement Agboremeh;  Organising Secretary, Danladi Pasali; Financial Secretary, Mr Benjamin Ojugbo,  National Auditor and Mr Deji Loto as the Legal Adviser.

Charging the new officers to lift the association, the outgoing chairman had told the gathering that IPMAN now has 21 depots across the country.
