The Shippers’ Council branch President of SSACTAC, Comrade AdigweMukhtar told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos that more than 100 staff were promoted in January 2016 alone. He has regular promotion has been the lot of the Council staff since Hassan Bello became the CEO.
According to him, promotion of staff has been a major challenge under past CEOs, but under the current management of the council, a lot of staff whose promotions have been delayed are now enjoying regular promotion, because of the union's interaction with management.
Adigwe also noted that management has been alive to their responsibilities in providing a conducive environment, which according to him is very paramount.
He stressed the need for the members of the union to cooperate with management, adding that there has been good working relationship between the union and management.
Adigwe further maintained since the appointment of Hassan Bello as the council's boss, there has been staff promotion twice, a situation he described as unprecedented in the history of the council.
He pointed out that the promotion exercise carried by the council's boss has resolved the backlog of staff promotion.
"The problem of promotion of staff has been in existence before the appointment of the current executive secretary and primarily I don't know what was the actual cause of the delay"
"We as the union are not looking on management alone because on our own we are able to assist our members in our own little way".
