Stress Management to Cope with Life

Take time off to enjoy nature and beautiful sights is a form of stress relief. Go for a walk. Listen to music. Socialize. Indulge in sports and recreation

Most working folks have some level of stress in their lives. It can range from a little stress, such as worrying about getting the kids to school in time to a lot of stress, such as trying to pay the bills on time each month and coping with daily urban vehicular traffic. Regardless of how much stress you have in your life, you’d probably prefer that you didn’t have any at all. With stress management, you get a two- pronged attack by lowering the amount of stress present in your life while also helping to cope with whatever is left.
When people think of stress management, they might envision a room full of Yoga practices, and while that’s a great way to help deal with stress, stress management tips extend far beyond that. In fact, chances are that you’ll never even consider Yoga if statistics are to be believed, but there are still many options available for you. Some are easy, while others take some patience and, at times, money. Here are some of the easier stress management techniques for you to follow:

The following techniques can help greatly

Plan ahead – Don’t forever be stuck in the spur of the moment. This stress management can range from picking tomorrow’s clothes out tonight to keeping a day planner handy to write appointments in. By planning ahead, you allow your brain to relax more because you won’t have to worry about remembering things – they’ll just be there in the planner for you to read. Also, techniques such as picking clothes out early allow you to just complete activities in an orderly fashion as opposed to having to prepare for them right before you do them. Things will be already set up for you to complete, and your day will feel much smoother.

Play games – If you never allow your body and mind to relax, the smallest amount of stress can nag you for hours on end. Stress management games help your mind to relax, and this will also help your body to relax as well. Stress in your life can actually keep your muscles tight, and this will lower the amount of energy you have throughout the day. However, activities such as tennis, swimming, golf, and board and video games or even a little time to play local games with friends are a great stress management techniques. Just do whatever you love, and you’ll deal with stress while having a blast.

Those two techniques were just two of many that you can use to help to cope with stress in your life. As mentioned earlier, techniques like planning ahead, help to lower the amount of stress in your life, while others, like playing games, help your body and mind to relax in the presence of stress. Everybody has some level of stress in their lives, but with stress management, it will never bother you again.

Apart from these, here are some natural ways to help relieve stress. You won’t believe how well they work
1. Free your mind. Take a five minute break and walk around; even if this means walking around your office building, Stand by the window, look at some attraction and then inhale deeply and exhale very slowly. Research shows that deep breathing allows more oxygen to be inhaled, helping to prevent stiff necks, headache, indigestion, poor mental performance, palpitations and stress.
2. Clear the clutter. Tidy your desk, organize your files, clear out the cupboard and weed the garden (that is, if you have one). De-cluttering can be very therapeutic as the sense of satisfaction act as a form of stress relief.
3. Herbal tranquility. Many herbs have calming and relaxing effects. Instead of starting the day with coffee, which is over stimulating to an over stressed body; sip a hot cup of Chamomile infusion. Add a slice of lemon and a teaspoon of honey for an instant soothing and stress relief feeling. If stress has been bugging you for some time and you need a deeper sense of relaxation, go for herbs like Passionflower, Lemon Balm, and St. John’s Wort 9if you can get them) As a stress relief, these herbs are excellent for stress due to overwork and nervous tension.
4. Flower power. Bach Flower Remedies help many different kinds of stress. Vervain is recommended for those busy workaholics and can’t relax people; white Chestnut for people who can’ turn their brain off even when its bedtime and the ever popular Rescue Remedy for on-the-spot stress busting.
5. Soothing baths. Nothing beats a hot bath for pure relaxation. Add a few drops of Lavender oil in your bath water for extra effect.
6. DIY acupressure. Massage the centre of your palm with a firm thumb pressure. Massaging the ears also help to balance the body and mind. Starting at the top of your ears, pinch the ridges between your thumb and forefinger, gently pulling the ears away from your head. Slowly move down the ridges of the ear in this manner until you reach your earlobes. Then grasp the lobes firmly and pull downwards.
7. Get exercising. Any form of exercise that you enjoy will help relax your body. Some prefer to sweat and yell out their frustration with kickboxing, whilst others may prefer the gentle movement and rhythmic breathing of yoga. Something as simple as a short stroll in the park may be all you need as a stress relief.
8. Calming foods. Honey has long been used in traditional medicine as a calming food. So if stress is making you anxious, try a teaspoon of honey for stress management.
9. Increasing awareness. Become aware of when your are experiencing stress overload. How do you personally feel it in your body? Then become aware of the things you can personally do as a stress relief in the course of the day. Just start doing all the things that make you feel good about yourself.
10. Relaxation. Taking time to break sustained tension is really crucial to reduce stress. It can be as simple as taking a stretch break or go away for a relaxing long weekend or maybe do something refreshingly new to break the daily routine.
11. Manage Your Lifestyle. Smart time management is one way to reduce stressors. Learn to prioritize. Do what is most important first and realize that some things can wait until later. Having more supportive friends makes you happier as you will have a sense of belonging. Build relationships based on emotional honestly. Take time off to enjoy nature and beautiful sights is a form of stress relief. Go for a walk. Listen to music. Socialize. Indulge in sports and recreation.

You can indeed live a stress-free life if you chose to and if you learn to.
