President Bola Tinubu has rescinded the appointment of Dr. Magdalene Ajani as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). This decision follows a recent protest by FCTA staff against President Tinubu’s earlier approval of Ajani’s posting.
In a press conference on Sunday, Lukeman Oramosele, Chairman of the League of Retired and Serving FCTA Directors, expressed gratitude to Tinubu for the prompt action. Oramosele also commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his swift and crucial intervention, leading to the reversal.
He criticized Ajani’s posting as “uncalled for, unlawful, and inimical” to the President’s authority, particularly in light of the approved creation of the FCT Service Commission.
Acknowledging Tinubu and Wike’s commitment to comprehensive reforms, the FCT workers praised their efforts to reshape the administration, boost staff morale, enhance productivity, and ensure effective public service delivery.
Oramosele stated, “Tinubu and Wike have made significant contributions to the human, institutional, and physical development of the nation’s capital. The nation is optimistic about better days ahead, as challenges are navigated under the leadership that steers away from storms into calm waters, instilling hope.”
Notably, Dr. Magdalene Ajani’s future posting remains undisclosed after the reversal. Ajani was initially slated to replace the current Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, who is set to retire from service on May 29, 2024.
