The Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) has elected a new executive committee, with Tola Adenubi of the Nigerian Tribune emerging as Chairman. The election, held in Lagos on Thursday, saw journalists covering the transportation sector vote in new leaders to oversee the affairs of the association for the next three years.

Other elected executives include Temitope Adebayo of Daily Times as Vice Chairman, Seun Ibiyemi of NewsDirect as Secretary, David Adekunle of Voice of Nigeria (VON) as Treasurer, and Mathew Ukachukwu of New Nigeria as Internal Auditor.

In his acceptance speech, Adenubi expressed gratitude to members for entrusting him with the leadership of the association. He pledged to promote professionalism, strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, and advocate for policies that will drive improvements in Nigeria’s transportation sector. He also assured members of initiatives aimed at enhancing their welfare while ensuring that transportation reporting remains impactful and relevant.

Outgoing Chairman Yinka Aderibigbe of The Nation Newspaper thanked members for their support during his tenure. He urged the new leadership to build on past achievements and work towards advancing the interests of members and the transportation industry at large.

TCAN serves as the umbrella body for journalists covering Nigeria’s transportation industry, with members drawn from media organizations in Nigeria.
