The Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT), Vietnam’s newest and most advanced deep-water port, has officially commenced operations, marking a major milestone in the country’s maritime sector.
On 6th February, the port welcomed its first commercial vessel, the ESL DUBAI. Following this, the MSC AURORA, the largest container ship to ever make a port call at HAI PHONG Seaport, docked on 13th February.
HHIT has an area of 73 hectares and features a 900-meter-long wharf with depths between -16.8 and 18.4 meters. The port can accommodate two large container vessels with lengths of up to 400 meters simultaneously.
The port is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including STS cranes, a NANIS N4 operations system, e-RTG systems, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, a 5G network, and surveillance cameras. The HHIT also has an automated gate system with OCR and RFID that enhances productivity and accuracy.
The arrival of MSC AURORA highlights HHIT’s role in global trade. The vessel is part of the CHINOOK service route directly linking Vietnam with the United States and Canada.
