The reinstated Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA); Alhaji Habib Abdullahi yesterday officially took over the leadership position of the agency from  Prince Sanusi Ado Bayero Lamido who had been in charge since May.

At the ceremonial handing over at the head office of the NPA in Lagos, Abdullahi called on staff of the agency to ensure that all hands are on deck and ensure that NPA moves forward.

The recalled Managing Director stated at the ceremony that destiny cannot be changed by anyone, a veiled reference to the circumstances of his removal by former President Goodluck Jonathan in April, and his eventual recall by President Muhammadu Buhari. He also thanked President Buhari for his reappointment.

Habib also described his second coming to office as the boss of  NPA as the work of God, pointing out that "it is the desire of the President who directed that I should be reinstated which has been  destined by God and I will love to beg each and everyone of us to see it as such"

"You cannot fight what God has destined to be but, it’s a challenge not only to me personally, but also to my successor and to all of us"

"For whatever reasons I am here today I would also want us to know that it is the will of God that I am here again", he stated.

Earlier in his remarks, the outgoing managing director; Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero said that change is part of life, even as he called on staff of the agency to put in their best, support the new managing director and move on with life.

Ado Bayero added that during  his short stay in NPA , the organisation was properly managed, noting that NPA has efficient and reliable hands capable of discharging their duties effectively.

He added that NPA will continue to exist during and after the present management and urged workers to contribute their own quota for optimal growth.

The former Managing Director however wished the Habib Abdullahi the best in future endeavours.
