The Rotary Club of Ikoyi, District 9110; Nigeria has offered Sura Market Traders Association at the popular Sura market in Lagos a N1Milion micro-credit
The gesture has also earned the Rotary Club of Ikoyi commendation as one of the major Rotary Clubs under the District 9110 and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the country leading the drive to eradicate poverty in its community, with its economic empowerment drive.

Speaking in Lagos recently, at the presentation of the credit facilities, Dr. Adewale Ogunbadejo, the District Governor, District 9110, noted that the Club’s commitment to selecting and executing projects that touches lives has helped greatly to empower the less privileged people in the society.
Dr. Ogunbadejo urged the traders to utilise the loan properly and ensure that those who benefit reciprocate the kind gesture by using the loans to enhance their business and ensure a quick turnaround. “This will enable more market men and women participate in the micro credit scheme, to improve their businesses and better their lives and those around them”, he said.
According to the President of Rotary Club of Ikoyi; Isichei Osamgbi, the investment, is aimed at impacting positively in the life of the beneficiaries.
He assured that all the people and organizations who are involved in managing the funds are fully committed to the delivery of the micro credits early in the Rotary year to enable more people benefit, by providing them capital for their business.
Mr. Osamgbi while pointing out that the micro credit scheme is one of its strategic projects for the 2017/2018 Rotary year, noted that it was born out of thoughts of Club Members that the market men and women needed all the financial support they can get to help grow their businesses in the present economic times.
Responding on behalf of the raders, the Market Leader (Baba Oja), Mr. Wahab Adeyemi Fashina thanked the Rotary Club of Ikoyi for the commendable gesture.He promised that the traders will do their best to put the fund into good use and uphold the trust and faith reposed in them.
