The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) is in mourning, following the tragic loss of one of its dedicated members, Comrade Elegbede David, who passed away in a ghastly motor accident on May 4, 2024, along the Oshodi-Mile 2 Expressway.
In a press statement issued by the head of media, MWUN; Kennedy Ikemefuna, the union said Comrade Elegbede, until his demise, was the Unit Chairman of APMT and a shining example of hard work and dedication.
His commitment to his duties and his leadership qualities had a profound impact on his colleagues and the union as a whole.
According to the management of APMT, Comrade Elegbede was a worker who embodied the values of hard work and diligence, and his sterling leadership qualities inspired countless others.
He joined APMT in 2007 as a Crane Operator and quickly became a well-respected and integral member of the union and the APMT team.
The President-General of MWUN, ComradeAdewale Adeyanju, and the entire executive and membership of the union are deeply grieved by Comrade Elegbede’s passing. Dr. Adeyanju described the loss as “painful and difficult to imagine,” citing Comrade Elegbede’s brilliance, intelligence, and leadership qualities as irreplaceable, the statement added.
The union has also extended its condolences to the management of APMT, Comrade Elegbede’s immediate family, and his colleagues, praying that the Almighty God to grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May Comrade Elegbede’s soul rest in eternal peace.
