The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) ended the last trading day of the week on a mixed but largely positive note, as investors engaged in selective equities despite a moderate slowdown in overall activity.

Data released by the NGX shows that on Friday, February 27, 2026, a total of 823,751,596 shares changed hands across 63,692 deals, generating a market turnover of ₦34.72 billion. Compared with Thursday, February 26, trading volume fell by 5%, the number of deals declined by 8%, but turnover improved by 10%, reflecting transactions in higher-value stocks. The NGX market capitalization closed at ₦123.8 trillion.

Out of 131 listed equities that participated in trading, 39 ended the day with price gains, while 25 recorded losses, reflecting selective buying across the market. Price movements ranged from modest increases to double-digit gains and losses, highlighting targeted investor activity.

Certain equities also recorded exceptionally high volumes, with top stocks exchanging tens of millions of shares. Analysts suggest that strong activity in high-volume segments points to sustained interest in key sectors, even as broader market momentum shows signs of moderation.

Market watchers noted that while overall trading volume and deals declined slightly, the positive price movements in select equities helped maintain investor confidence heading into the new week.
