Senate President, David Mark, yesterday, assured Nigerians that the concerted efforts by the Federal Government of Nigeria to boost trade and investment partnership with the state of India will ultimately become a big commerce in the world.
Mark, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary,Mr. Paul Mumeh, also said Nigeria has a lot to learn from India including her Technology, Agriculture and democratic practices that would fastrack development.
Senate President, David Mark, yesterday, assured Nigerians that the concerted efforts by the Federal Government of Nigeria to boost trade and investment partnership with the state of India will ultimately become a big commerce in the world.
Mark, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary,Mr. Paul Mumeh, also said Nigeria has a lot to learn from India including her Technology, Agriculture and democratic practices that would fastrack development.
The senate president, the statement added, stated when he played host to the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Ajjampur Rangaiah Ghanashyam in his office.
He said that Nigeria has a long standing relationship with India including military trainings.
He noted that partnering with a nation like India was worth encouraging because the pattern of development and stable democracy that exist among the various socio-political groups in India should be emulated.
He said, “What we need as a nation is to borrow from the enormous developmental strides attained by the Indians and relate it back home, since we have the human capital and material resources”
The Senate President called for more collaboration between and among the Agencies of government with the Indian based professionals in order to achieve a technological breakthrough.
The Indian Ambassador to Nigeria said he was satisfied with the level of bilateral relationship that exists between the two countries.
Ghanashyam canvassed for exchange programmesespecially commerce and trade that would be beneficial to both countries.
