A private company incorporated in Singapore; Pacific International Lines (PIL) has said that it is set to officially deploy its newly-acquired vessel; Kota Sabas to the Nigerian waterways.
In an official statement from the company which was sent to Shipping Position Daily, PIL had in June 2014 taken delivery of two multi-purpose vessel, Kota Sabas (3900 TEUS) and Kota Bistari (27,000 DWT)

In an official statement from the company which was sent to Shipping Position Daily, PIL had in June 2014 taken delivery of two multi-purpose vessel, Kota Sabas (3900 TEUS) and Kota Bistari (27,000 DWT)
The vessels will be deployed to the West Africa Service and East Africa Trade Line respectively, loading from Shanghai, Jintang, Xingang and discharging in Dar Es Salaam, Mtwara and Beira.
The company said that a customer event will come up on Wednesday (August 6, 2014) even as it assured that regional heads of the company from Singapore will be in attendance to entertain customers’ question and provide answers.
PIL which was incorporated in 1967 operates a range of businesses spanning from shipping to container manufacturing and other logistics related services, with the core of business in container shipping.
It named Nigeria as one of the target countries in Africa, adding that: We are also pursuing greater land-based investment, including bonded terminals, depots and cold stores in such emergent countries as Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Ghana”.
The group said it owns a fleet of 183 modern vessels with a total capacity of 367,287 TEUs. As part of PIL new building programme, PIL Group expects the delivery of 12 new container vessels with a total capacity of 42,900 TEUs and 1 new multi-purpose vessel joining its fleet by December 2015.
It added last week that: “We are also pursuing greater land-based investment, including bonded terminals, depots and cold stores in such emergent countries as Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Ghana. New to our repertoire also will be an offshore supply base to be located in Mtwara, Tanzania, in partnership with Swire Pacific”
