The board of the Nigerian ports Authourity (NPA) is being fingered for the delay in release of promotion, a development which forms part of the brewing face-off between management and the workers.
The face-off snowballed into an industrial action which failed to kick-off yesterday, even after the two unions, namely: Senior Staff Association and the NPA branch of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) had put their members on notice.

The strike was not observed yesterday as both senior and junior employees turned-up for work, but a source within the two house unions told our correspondent that the management had little fault.
“The board and the chairman caused it, the management had approved the promotions and taken it to the board for a very long time, but you our chairman, because of PDP politics, the board has refused to sit over it and approve implementation” , he confided in Shipping Position Daily yesterday.
He also confirmed that both the board and management are due to meet today (Tuesday) on the issues, even as he confirmed that the strike has been stepped down for now.
