The Maritime f Worker Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has lost the Chairman of Dock Workers branch in Port Harcourt. He is Comrade Ebenezer Oputa. He was aged 46.
A statement issued in Port Harcourt by Mr Albert Ebenezer on behalf of the family said Comrade Ebenezer died after a brief illness.
Comrade Ebenezer was survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
The late Comrade Ebenezer Oputa has however been buried at his home town, Umuzoho, Ezihe in Isiala – Mbano LGA of Imo State.

Reacting to the demise of the union leader, the Vice Chairman of the district; Comrade Wilson Nwokeocha described the demise of the District Chairman, as shocking, and unbelievable.
‘’He was a very dedicated Comrade. His leadership in the Union is smooth. There was harmony in the Executive during his period. Even though there are issues sometimes, he is usually disposed to resolve them amicably’’, Comrade Wilson said.
He describes Comrade Ebenezer Oputa, as an experienced Dock Worker, recalling how they both worked together at the ‘Quay Apron’ area at the NPA, Port Harcourt Port, many years ago.
‘’Let me tell you that Dock Workers are mourning his death, because our slogan says – injury to one is injury to all. He is so dear to us. And the union will go all out to pay him his last respect’’, Wilson assured.
