Barely a month after he was appointed as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Alhaji Lamido Ado Bayero yesterday undertook a tour of the Apapa port and the terminals within the Lagos Port Complex (LPC).

The NPA boss arrived at the Bullnose Jetty at about 1.30 pm and was immediately taken in a bus on a sightseeing of the various terminals.

At exactly 1.45pm, the bus had driven through the APM Terminals, GDNL Terminals and the tour ended.

E‎ven though the NPA boss did not step out of the bus, our correspondent noted that the tour lasted for not more than 30 minutes before he was hurriedly taken back to the NPA headquarters in Marina by ferry.

All efforts by journalists to ask his impression about the two terminals that he was able to tour were equally frustrated by the Public Affairs department.

Assistant General Manager of the department, Mallam Musa Iliya told press men that the MD was simply impressed with what he has seen so far inside the port.

Iliya said that,"this is the maiden tour that the MD is embarking upon, one thing I can assure you is that he is impressed by what he saw, subsequently he plans to visit the Tin Can Island port, he will only gather the press men together and speak after this".

Ado Bayero was accompanied by the General Manager, Western Ports, Chief Michael Ajayi, the Port Manager of Apapa Port, Mr. Nasir Anas and the Assistant General Manager in charge of Security, among others.
