Jauro Takes Over As Acting DG of NIMASA

Barely a week after he took the baton as Acting Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Barrister Calistus‎ Nwabueze Obi has officially handed over the baton to his colleague, Mr. Haruna Baba Jauro as Acting DG

Former Director General of the apex agency had handed over to Barrister Obi last week Tuesday after President Muhammadu Buhari had sacked him and directed him to hand over to the most senior director at the agency.

But Jauro had claimed that Nwabueze appointed in error and that he was the most senior Executive Director haven resumed 24hours before Obi.

However yesterday, Jauro formally took over from Barrister Nwabueze Obi at an handing over ceremony which took place at the agency on Monday 27th July, 2015.

An official statement sent to Shipping Position Daily by NIMASA Deputy Director Public Affairs, Mr. Isichei Osamgbi confirmed that Barrister Obi had tendered his unreserved loyalty to the Acting DG, even as he enjoined staff of the Agency to support Mr. Haruna Baba Jauro.‎

Barrister Obi assured that the excellent working relationship between him and the new Acting DG would continue in order to lift the Agency to greater heights.

Responding, Mr. Haruna Jauro expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the opportunity to serve the nation in his new capacity.

He thanked staff of NIMASA for their commitment to duty and craved the cooperation of all for the realization of the mandate of the Agency.

“I want to thank all staff of NIMASA for the commitment to the objectives of this Agency and crave your cooperation so that together we can actualize the objectives for which the Agency was set up” the Acting DG said.

The Acting DG who until his appointment was the Executive Director Finance and Administration in the Agency is expected to be in charge until a substantive Director General is appointed.
