The Controller in charge of Customs Federal Operations Unit, Zone C, Owerri; Mr Victor Dimka has urged journalists to continue to be partners with Customs in the anti – smuggling campaign.
Dimka made the appeal while playing host to the Executives of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council led by the Chairman, Ayo Tamuno.

Dimka made the appeal while playing host to the Executives of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council led by the Chairman, Ayo Tamuno.
Comptroller Dimka expressed appreciation to journalsits for being fair in their reportage of Customs isseus. He said the visit to Owerri will further afford the journalists opportunity to understudy Customs operations, so as to be of assistance in the effort to fight against all forms of smuggling.
He describes the press as critical stakeholders in the work of customs, noting that the Customs also hold journalists in high esteem.
‘’ Today is an important day in the zone. We sincerely want to thank you for the visit and for your pro – activeness in tackling speculative journalism’’, Comptroller Dimka told the visiting journalists.
‘’ You people have helped Customs so well, and we cannot thank you enough’’, Dimka added, even as he urged journalists to criticize constructively and also assist customs in spreading the message to Nigerians about the dangers of smuggling.
Earlier in an address, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chairman, Rivers State Council, Mr Ayo Tamuno told the Comptroller that Rivers State constitutes as one of the eleven states under the Zone ‘C’.
He commended them for their determination to protect the Nigerian economy from the activities of smugglers. ‘’ Your job is good. You and your men are working hard to help the Nigerian people’’, the Ayo Tamuno told the Comptroller.
