Stars Maritime Academy a privately owned maritime institution has reiterated its commitment in ensuring that students understand marine environment, away from classroom activities.
The academy has also disclosed that students from the three departments of the school, namely: nautical sciences, marine engineering and shipping management are receiving sea training at Sea School Apapa Lagos.

In message sent to Shipping Position Daily, Head, Shipping Management of the academy, Mr. Chris Sadoh noted that "Stars Maritime Academy sent a number her cadets to sea school at Liverpool Apapa to undergo week long training."
According to him, the cadets were drawn across the three departments the academy, adding that the training become imperative to expose the cadets to sea activities.
He said that the essence of the sea training is for students of the school to familiarise themselves with activities at the sea while they are still undergoing maritime course in the academy.
"Maritime education does not end in the classroom alone rather it cut across inward"
"After the week programme which serves as a practical for them, the students will be warming up for end of voyage examination which comes up in December 2015"
"With the sea familiarity programme, students will be further expose to the marine work irrespective of their courses", he stated.
Sadoh added that "this batch makes it the 5th batch and the period for this training is between 26th to 31st October 2015.
He said that a total of 62 cadets were sent for the sea training.
According to him, 30 cadets from shipping management,20 cadets from marine engineering department and 12 cadets from nautical sciences department .
"The training will be of immense benefit to the cadets as they will learn more of discipline,civic responsibility and of course sea life which will be an added advantage to what they learnt so far from the academy,"
