Frontline indigenous terminal operator, Sifax Group has conducted training for its top management executives in order to ensure improved performance of the organisation.
Disclosing this at the recent mid-year press conference of the group in Lagos, Executive Director of Human Resources of Sifax, Dr. Fola Rogers said the conglomerate had earlier trained all its managers and supervisors.
She noted that Sifax Group places premium on human capacity and emotional intelligence of it staff in order to enable them give their best service to their customers.
Apart from the leadership training, Dr. Rogers noted that individuals in the organisation have equally been sponsored for training both locally and internationally.
She said "the leadership training for all managers and supervisors have been done, this weekend we are doing the one for the top executives, we are not leaving anyone out"
"The training was based on leadership development and work place intelligence because we all know that it is not just to come to work and do your work, in the last five to ten years organisations have been talking about emotional intelligence and how it would contribute to the development of an organisation"
"All of these were put in the training and we hope it would have an impact on their performance, on goal-setting and team-building".
She stressed that some of the topics treated at the training were basic leadership skills, ethics and creative thinking. Others include performance management, goal setting, change orientation.
She added that Sifax Group in the first half of the year 2016 has devoted considerate time and efforts to human capacity building and training of staff, at both senior and junior cadre.
She noted that key executive appointments were made internally within the period and this has added value to the workforce of the group.
According to her, there was a staff skill audit carried out by the group which cuts across all subsidiaries and this has helped in identifying the skills gap as well as strength and even personal and emotional needs of staff.
