The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has collected N50.6billion as revenue of the command between January and February 2017.
Customs Area Controller, Apapa Area Command, Compt. Musa Jibrin gave the figure at the monthly stakeholders meeting held at the command on Wednesday.
A breakdown of the revenue showed that the command realised N24.7billion in February 2017 as against N25.9billion it realised in January 2017 with a shortage of N1.2billion.
In the corresponding year 2016 however, the command in January collected N23.4billion and N19.7 billion in February 2016 respectively.
Comptroller Jibrin disclosed that presently, the Customs has migrated from ASYCUDA plus-plus onto ASYCUDA paperless, even as he assured that ASYCUDA paperless would eventually lead to Single Window.
He however charged importers and their agents to equally key into the paperless transactions of the customs service, even as he urged operators at the port to collaborate with the customs service is trade facilitation.
The Area Controller also assured that issue of blockage of already cleared consignment outside the ports by other security outfits and regulatory agencies including the Police and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) would also be resolved.
He said that a meeting involving all security agencies in the seaports would hold soon at the behest of the Apapa command in order to profer solutions to some of the complaints laid down by stakeholders.
Jubrin urged freight forwarders and importers to support the service in trade facilitation adding that exchange of information would further assist in promoting trade.
