The Federal Government may have reviewed the curriculum for the training of cadets at all maritime institutions across the country.
This indication was given at a maritime students’ forum in Lagos last week by a senior lecturer at the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Capt Folarin Ojutalayo.
Capt Ojutalayo told the gathering that he was also a member of the committee that reviewed the curriculum between 21st and 27th of May 2017 alongside some other maritime experts including; Capt Alao, Capt Cyril.
He stated that "between 21st and 27th of last month we were in Kaduna reviewing the curriculum for all maritime training institutions in this country and 70% of the review for the HND was done by me and my colleagues, this would stay for the next five years"
"Also, my colleague, Capt Cyril also a lecture in this institution reviewed that of OND with Captain Alao. Majority of our senior captains have also suddenly discovered that some of the qualifications they now have are out-dated"
"Very soon you are going to begin to see a difference in what you used to have in the curriculum", he assured.
