The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) last week inaugurated a standard crèche at the Lagos Premier Ports Apapa to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day.
According to the NPA, the crèche is expected to be located in other port locations in Nigeria to assist nursing mothers with respect to their children’s welfare, so as to enable them concentrate better on job for operational efficiency.
The NPA Corporate and Strategic Communications Division explained that the gesture was in line with the theme for this year’s celebration which is “Balance for Better”.
The statement added that it also showcases other areas of concern as “Think Equal, Build Smart and Innovate for Change”.it is actually a clarion call for unprecedented opportunities for women, the girl child.
The anchor during the year’s celebration has been identified as the acceleration of progress for gender equality, encouragement of investment in gender-responsive social systems, and the building of services and infrastructure that meet the needs of women and girls.
