Associated Press reports that Federal prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against three Somalis charged with murder in relation to the deaths of four Americans on board the hijacked yacht, the SV Quest, in 2011.
The decision to pursue the death penalty was made by Eric Holder, US Attorney General, last week. According to AP's story, Ahmed Muse Salad, Abukar Osman Beyle and Shani Nurani Shiekh Abrar face charges where 22 of the 26 counts are potentially eligible for the death sentence.
