New Maritime Workers President General Reads Riot Act to Employers

Newly – elected president general, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Tony Nted has warned employers of labour in the maritime industry to desist from short-changing members of the union whom according to him, account for the wealth and the enviable position which the maritime sector enjoy in the nation’s economy.
Comrade Nted gave this warning shortly after being sworn in at the recently concluded second quadrennial delegates’ conference of the union in Benin, Edo state. 
The new MWUN top man who defeated Comrade Rasaq Bakare to clinch the highly coveted position declared that the era of not giving members of the union their fair share of the wealth that they sweat to create was gone, even as he admonished workers to be more hardworking and more committed to their work.
Speaking shortly after been sworn in Benin recently, Comrade Nted however cautioned  members of the union from deliberately becoming less productive or official misdemeanour, adding that the union would not offer any cover for anyone who does not deserve it.
He was equally full of commendation for his predecessor, Comrade Onikolease Irabor whom he described as an exceptional human being who took over the mantle of leadership of the union at a very turbulent period.
According to him, the immediate past president general has taken the welfare of members to a very enviable level adding that his activities touched on the lives of members of the four branches of the union.
Also speaking earlier, Comrade Irabor had highlighted the achievements of his eight year tenure to include securing condition of service for dockworkers, enthronement of peace in the once troubled union, among others.
