The Nigeria Customs Service has promoted another set of 3,894 officers and men of the Service after series of competitive written examination and subsequent interview.
This piece of information was given recently by the Comptroller of the Abuja Command of the Service, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara while decorating two officers of his Command who have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Comptroller.
No fewer than 41Officers serving in the command benefited from the promotion exercise out of which 39 were promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller down the ladder and decorated already.
According to a statement that was sent to us last week and which was signed by the command’s public relations officer, Mr Eke Chukwuma, an assistant superintendent of Customs 1, the newly promoted Deputy Comptrollers must be decorated by an officer of the rank of Comptroller of Customs.
And while performing the ceremony, Comptroller Usman Bello Kankara said the promotion initiative was part of the Comptroller General, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde’s reforms towards enhancing efficiency, discipline and dedication in service delivery.
According to him, the series of promotion has brought an end to the era of stagnation in the service and high incidences of officers waiting endlessly for release of their promotions after interview.
Alhaji Kankara also commended the Comptroller-General for the promotion and assured him that this would boost the morale of officers of his command towards the service especially, in the most critical area of revenue generation.
One of the beneficiaries, Deputy Comptroller Usman Mayaki assured that “it would encourage them more in rendering service and expressed gratitude to the management for recognizing their performance”
