A Clearing Agent, Cyriacus Onyilimba, 53, on Wednesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates' Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding a lawyer of N1million.
Onyilimba, who was arraigned on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing, however, pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Babaji Ishaku told the court that the accused allegedly defrauded one Ngozi Odejayi of N1, 050, 000 on Feb. 13 at the Access Bank, Moloney Branch in Lagos.

Prosecutor Babaji Ishaku told the court that the accused allegedly defrauded one Ngozi Odejayi of N1, 050, 000 on Feb. 13 at the Access Bank, Moloney Branch in Lagos.
“The accused obtained the sum from Odejayi under the pretext that he would help her buy a vehicle from the Tin-can Island Port in Apapa, Lagos,’’ Ishiaku said.
He said that the alleged offence contravened Section 285 and 312 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs Joy Ugbomoiko, granted bail to Onyilimba in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case to Oct. 3, for mention.
