Are you optimistic that the CRFFN peace moves for ANLCA will be sustained?

The level we are now will be sustained. Life is give and take. When you have lots of human beings coming together as an association, you are going to see a lot of behavior and characters. We pray that our judiciary will live up to expectations. Having been fighting for almost five years and there are more than 10 litigations, there is no progress and ANLCA is suffering. As a father, I should be able to leave a legacy. In order to have peace that was why I had to step aside since none of the parties did not want to shift grounds.
I have to commend the CRFFN Board Chairman, Alhaji Tsanni Abubakar for his proactive attitude and the roles he has played. He appealed to us and we discovered that he doesn’t want the government to be decisive on ANLCA, hence there is need for us to see to the end of this. Thank God no life was lost. The progress of the reconciliation is in top gear. We have achieved over 60 percent and by the grace of God within some days or weeks to come, you will see a new branded ANLCA that will stand the test of time. Although it might not go down well with some of our people, my advice to them is to let the sleeping dog lie. Anyone aggrieved should have a sense of forgiveness, so that ANLCA can come back to its rightful position in the maritime sector.

It will be sustained by the grace of God. When people fight for a long time, it will get to a stage where everybody knows that they have to let peace reign. We have seen that fighting does not do anything good. With peace, we would achieve a lot. Everybody knows that they have lost both sides.

I personally have not understood what the reconciliatory moves are all about. Peace is very desirable, but every move for peace should be anchored on justice. I don’t understand the CRFFN moves because I wouldn’t know if it is a peace move or if they are trying to perpetuate the illegality of some few people connected in the association. All that is going on is all left in insincerity. The real reconciliation will come when the people involved who are claiming to broker peace understand what Justice means. Justice means that the truth must be told. No matter how bitter the truth may sound, it must be told.

Yes, I believe the reconciliation moves by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria will be sustained. This is because we have all decided to make it work. I am very optimistic that all dissenting voices will be dispelled and full resolutions will be reached in no time.

The issue is being able to understand the things that we really need. We understand that the reason for an association is for us to have a collective way of working against wrongs of operations by service providers. The moment we lose focus, it becomes selfish interests. The moment people begin to understand that selfish interest does not help, that is where things will work. The CRFFN can make all the efforts they want to make on earth, if the people who are supposed to receive the faults have a different things in mind, what created the first problem would continue, but if the people understand that we have a common interest, it would be able to make the freight forwarding industry a very conducive one and we would be able to come up with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs). The problem we are really having is created by human factors in the association, including lack of understanding and focus on what we are there for.

From my understanding of the way I’m seeing things, the peace will be a permanent one. There is nothing anybody can do. We are tired. All the stakeholders and everybody are tired. Lots of money is gone, there have been fights, breakings and loss of properties. So what are we dragging? There are certain times when you drag things and if you cannot get it, you’ll allow peace to reign. That is exactly the situation where we find ourselves now. We have reached the stage where we want peace to reign. We want one indivisible ANLCA where peace will be sustained.

Definitely, all hands are on deck to sustain the peace moves by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria. Things are already working in place for a successful brokerage of peace in the association and there is no going back on this.
