·         Emenike has added no value to ANLCA in five years,—Farinto

·         People are urging me to contest, they are not feeling Farinto’s leadership impact–Emenike

As the National Executives Committee (NECOM) election of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) draws closer, the two leading Presidential candidates; Dr. Kayode Farinto and Sir. Emenike Nwokeoji has lashed out at each other, each claiming to be better qualified for the exalted position.

The two candidates who spoke to our correspondents in separate interviews lampooned each other, picking holes in each other’s qualification and competence.

The association’s election has been slated for July 5, 2023 even as the venue has not been made known. However insider sources confirmed that the election is most likely to take place in Lagos for proper supervision by the Council for the Regulations of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).

Speaking with our correspondent on the sideline of his endorsement by the Oodua Descendants Freight Forwarders Global Association recently, Dr. Kayode Farinto, when asked if he would have voted his opponent if he was not contesting stated emphatically that he would never have voted for him. He alleged that his opponent; Sir Emenike Nwokeoji has added no value to the association in the last five years.

Farinto lamented that the former Vice President during the tenure of Prince Olayiwola Shittu as National President, abandoned the association after losing his election to MrTony  Nwabunike, he noted that Nwokeoji went into oblivion and added no value to the association.

He said: “No I won’t have voted for him because in the last five years we never heard of him, he has not added value and what has he done in the industry”.

On his part, Sir Nwokeoji when asked if he would have voted Dr. Kayode Farinto replied; “I would not know who Kayode Farinto will be contesting against. Until I weigh the two, then I can now know who to vote for. But I cannot just tell you that even if Kayode Farinto is contesting with my elder brother, that I will vote for him’.

“But I can tell you that the fact that people are urging me to come out, shows that they are not feeling the impact of his leadership”, he said.

Explaining what Farinto alleged as his absence from the association, Nwokeoji said: “Since 2018, I went and faced my business. Anytime there is meeting and I am consulted, I air my views. All of us that left office (in 2018), that was the decision we took, because if you try to criticize, they will say when you were there, what did you do? It will just call for unnecessary abuse. So, you will just give people free hand to show the stuff that they are made of. That is what I have done. If people now see it as an offence, that is well and good. But allow people, you don’t know their plans. We have seen their plans for five years and instead of moving forward, we’re moving backward. That is why we are coming for restoration of the past glory of ANLCA”, he said.

Our correspondent gathered that a total of 23 aspirants have purchased nomination forms to vie for a total of 12 positions in the July 5th 2023, NECOM election.
