“On April 3, we received a petition from Wing Commander U. H. Gaya (rtd), the Chief Security Officer of the MRS Oil and Gas Co. Ltd., notifying the police of the fraudulent activities of Ali Elwise.
“The company had discovered a number of fraudulent correspondences between him and an unknown third party.
“The company also found out that he was impersonating one Ms Natasha Alison, a Canadian citizen, claiming to be stranded in Nigeria after being robbed of her money and property.
“He, then, requested that one Mr Garry Anderson sends to her, some Dollars to enable her to travel back to Canada which he (Anderson) did,’’ he submitted.
The prosecutor said that Anderson sent the accused the above mentioned sum.
“Elwise also claimed to be ASP Smith G. Daser of the Nigerian Police Force, and forged a police escort permit, which he used to deceive Mr Anderson and defraud him,” Osungbure said.

Elwise, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oyindamola Ogala, granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to May 6 for mention.
