Peruvian container terminal Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos at the port of Paita has ordered a super post-panamax ship-to-shore crane and two rubber-tyre gantry cranes from Liebherr as part of a modernisation project.
The ship-to-shore crane has a working load of 55 tonnes under a twin-lift spreader, an outreach of 51 metres, a back reach of 17 metres, a span of 30.5 metres and a lifting height above the rail of 36 metres.

The RTGs are capable of stacking one over five high and span seven containers and a truck lane.

The RTGs are capable of stacking one over five high and span seven containers and a truck lane.

The order is in line with a concession agreement signed by terminal operator Tertir, the operator of Liscont Container Terminal in Lisbon, with local partners Cosmos Agencias Maritima and Translei to develop the terminal.

Under the terms of the concession, the consortium is required to construct a new container dock, add 12 ha of patio for the container/multi-purpose terminal, deepen the draught of the berths to 13 m and acquire the cranes in order to handle post-panamax ships.

In 2011, the National Port Authority of Peru approved construction plans for the new container dock. The work is scheduled to be completed this year.
