Fellows of the Port and Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria (POTEMAN) who attended the 2013 Continuous Mandatory Professional Training (CMPT) workshop which held in Lagos have commended the efforts of the organisers of the training, even as they scored the programme above 70% in terms of the general performance.
According to them,the attendance was quite encouraging, while the aim of the workshop was achieved as fellows expressed satisfaction in the capacity building programme.

According to them,the attendance was quite encouraging, while the aim of the workshop was achieved as fellows expressed satisfaction in the capacity building programme.
Deputy Manager Director, General Marine and Oil Services Limited; Engineer Livinus A. Okam told Shipping Position Daily, that there is the need for periodic workshop of such magnitude even as he scored the CMPT training 75%.
Okam said that such training among professionals in the maritime sector is the best way to move sector forward.
He added that training is aimed to develop individuals and also to develop the sector through interactions.
He also noted that exchange of views and opinions by fellows of the academy goes a long way in understanding the modern trends in the maritime industry and that with the knowledge impacted through the workshop is for the betterment of the maritime sector.
He said that the workshop also contributes to societal development even as he stressed the need for POTEMAN to do more in the terms of capacity building for the maritime sector.
Okam added that the essence of the workshop is for personal improvement and with tangible benefits which are aimed at transforming the sector through individual contributions. He said the training is aimed at creating cohesion among the practitioners.
"What I would say is that the objective has been achieved, it may not be on a very high scale, but at the same time something has been achieved".
He also affirmed that POTEMAN has great potentials and with time it, will develop like other notable professional institutions in the country.
Also commending the effort of the training programme organised by POTEMAN, a fellow of the academy and Human Resource Manager, CMA CGM Delmas Nigeria, Mike Ogbonna scored the programme 75% even as he added that there is the need to do more in terms of capacity building for the maritime sector.
Ogbonna noted that the academy is right on track in terms of projecting the industry for greater achievement.
He said that the training has also aided the sector in building capacity of its personnel and the citizenry in general.
He also added that the academy has a very good intention toward training and urged members of staff of POTEMAN not to be selfish in projection the image of the academy.
