The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command has announced plans to participate in the 2026 National Police Day celebration with a series of activities aimed at strengthening community relations and enhancing public safety within port environments.

According to a press release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, the week-long programme, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” will align with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The Command, led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, disclosed that activities will commence on Monday, with community outreach initiatives, including sanitation exercises and the cleaning of public spaces across port areas. Medical outreach services will also be provided by Police Medical Units, offering basic healthcare support to members of the public.

As part of efforts to promote unity and wellness, a “Walkathon” is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, starting at 6:00 a.m., with participants expected to wear branded T-shirts to symbolize collective commitment to safer communities.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the Command will host stakeholder engagements within port corridors, focusing on the prevention of electoral violence and sensitization on traffic safety and compliance among drivers operating in and around port locations.

The programme will also include a solemn ceremony on Thursday, April 2, 2026, to honour fallen officers, during which cheques will be presented to families of deceased personnel at the Force Headquarters and across State Commands.

The celebration will conclude with a grand finale on April 7, 2026, at Eagle Square, Abuja, featuring ceremonial parades, exhibitions, and recognition of outstanding officers within the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the maritime domain and fostering stronger partnerships with stakeholders and the general public, urging citizens to actively participate in the scheduled events.
