Leading maritime and logistics conglomerate, SIFAX Group, has congratulated maritime journalist, Oluyinka Onigbinde, on his emergence as the new President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria, describing his election as a testament to his professionalism, dedication, and contributions to maritime journalism.

The congratulatory message was conveyed in a formal letter signed by Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of SIFAX Group, on behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of the company.

In the letter dated May 9, 2026, Afolabi stated that Onigbinde’s emergence as president of the maritime journalists’ body was well deserved, noting that his years of commitment to the maritime sector and journalism profession had earned him the confidence and trust of his colleagues.

According to Afolabi, “Your emergence as the President is proof of your professionalism, dedication, and consistent contributions to maritime journalism and the broader maritime industry over the years.”

The SIFAX Group chairman expressed optimism that MARAN would continue to promote professionalism, ethical journalism, unity, and constructive engagement within the maritime industry under Onigbinde’s leadership.

He further stated that the association was expected to strengthen the role of the media as a strategic partner in the growth and development of Nigeria’s maritime sector during the new administration.

Afolabi, who also serves as Patron of MARAN, assured the newly-elected president of his support and goodwill as he assumes leadership of the association.

He also prayed for wisdom, strength, and success for Onigbinde in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The election of Onigbinde has continued to attract goodwill messages and commendations from stakeholders within and outside the maritime industry, with many expressing confidence in his ability to reposition the association and deepen engagement between the media and maritime stakeholders.

MARAN remains one of Nigeria’s foremost maritime media associations, playing a significant role in maritime advocacy, industry reportage, and stakeholder engagement over the years.
