The shipping company AAL celebrated the naming ceremony of AAL Dubai in the CSSC Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou, China, on 12 March. The event also marked AAL’s 30th anniversary.

The vessel AAL Dubai is a methanol-ready multipurpose heavy lift vessel that is designed to take on a variety of cargo. The vessel, which is a part of the Super-B class, has a heavy lift capacity of 700 tonnes and can transport a variety of cargo, such as dry bulk, breakbulk, and heavy lift equipment concurrently.

AAL has stated that the advent of the vessel into their fleet marks the point where they have received more than half of the vessels they had placed on order. They also stated that the vessel next in line to be delivered is the AAL Damman. This delivery will be followed by the deliveries of the AAL Mumbai and the AAL Newcastle, both of which will have a greater heavy lift capacity of 800 tonnes.

The AAL Dubai has a length of 180 metres, a beam of 30 metres, and a gross tonnage of 25,784. The vessel has a cargo capacity of 2,197 TEUs, three 350-metre heavy lift cranes, and two box-shaped cargo holds optimized for dry bulk.

With the induction of the AAL Dubai into AAL’s fleet, the vessel is ready to undertake its maiden voyage and join its sister vessels in service.
