According to a statement issued in Lagos last week by the institute’s public relations officer (PRO), Mr Sesan Onileimo, the AGM is held every year while an election is held every four years, also at an AGM.
The present governing council is due for reconstitution; he stated and added that most of the elective positions have already been advertised to members who wish to contest for them and that forms have been sold out.
He however assured that names of contestants vying for positions will be announced to the public this week.

The present governing council is due for reconstitution; he stated and added that most of the elective positions have already been advertised to members who wish to contest for them and that forms have been sold out.
He however assured that names of contestants vying for positions will be announced to the public this week.
“The positions are open and the conditions are well spelt out in the constitution of the institute, all members are equal but the most important thing is that you must be a financial member, this is what will enable you to vote and be voted for, so the contest is meant for members who are up to date in their obligations to the NIS”.
He explained further that the institute, as a professional body has more than 8,000 members while the governing council is made up of 21 members  drawn from the six geopolitical zones, it is headed by a national president who is also the chairman of the council.
Also explaining the lined up programs of the election, Chima explained that the AGM is a four- in- one programme, namely:  the AGM proper, the induction of new members, the election, and in the evening there will be the gala night.
