Ahead of the September, 2016 retirement of the incumbent Controller, some ambitious Customs Comptrollers, mostly at the headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service have reportedly intensified their lobby to be posted to the Apapa A Command, which is considered as the juiciest command.
Shipping Position Daily investigations revealed that the Customs Area Controller, Apapa Command; Comptroller Willy Egbudin is set to go on retirement by September 2016, a development that may trigger minor reshufflement of Controllers in some commands.
Shipping Position Daily further confirmed that already the Customs management at the headquarters in Abuja is already profiling for a competent Comptroller to replace the former Lilypond and Seme commands’ controller.
A source within the Service told one of our correspondents that: "Apart from their relationships with the DCGs and ACGs on how they can be posted to Apapa most especially, there is also some level of political undertones for the posting. As it is, we don't know who is coming to Apapa but it is obvious that the officer that will succeed Egbudin must have headed a command before ".
"However there are so much lobbying coming from the Comptrollers"
"Meanwhile, the current Controller , Willy Egbudin is already taking things easy to keep a clean slate this last minute"
Our correspondent also confirmed that the Area Controller has been off and on from duty at the command as a result of his forthcoming retirement.
