The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba has called on bonded terminal managers across Lagos to deepen their collaboration with the Police to enhance maritime security and ensure strict compliance with existing regulations.
AIG Garba made this call during a recent engagement session with terminal managers at the Command Headquarters in Obalende, Lagos. The meeting was aimed at fostering mutual understanding, strengthening partnerships, and addressing key security concerns within Nigeria’s port environment.
In his address, AIG Garba underscored the critical role bonded terminals play in the overall security and economic stability of the maritime sector. He emphasized that effective policing of the maritime domain requires active cooperation from terminal operators who serve as frontline stakeholders.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining an open-door policy, assuring the managers of continuous support in securing their operations. He, however, warned against any acts of economic sabotage or criminal activity, maintaining a zero-tolerance stance and vowing to bring violators to justice.
“This Command remains committed to working closely with terminal operators to ensure law and order within the maritime space. We must all work hand in hand to protect our national assets and sustain investor confidence,” Garba stated.
The session was well-received by the terminal managers, who acknowledged the importance of security collaboration and pledged their support towards achieving a safer, more compliant maritime industry.
