The Customs Area Controller of the Tin Can Customs Command, Comptroller Musa Mba, has urged members of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) to find a means of resolving all the differences that have bedeviled the association in the last three years.

Musa, while receiving the National President of the association; Mr Tony Iju Nwabunike and other members of the National Executive Committee members (NECOM) and some members of the association on Thursday in his office, stated that the service is bothered that a foremost association like ANLCA has been engulfed in series of crises which have obviously affected their rating as a leading freight forwarding association.

The Comptroller stated although the service is aware of various court cases by members of the association, including the recent Kano injunction, stressed that there is need for the factions to see a common ground for reconciliation of all the differences for the benefits of the industry at large.

He told his guests, “as a service, we are still bothered that a foremost association like ANLCA has been engulfed in series of crises which have obviously affected your rating as a leading freight forwarding association, it is our hope that all factions will see a common ground for reconciliation of all the differences bedeviling the association.

“We are also aware of some court judgement; the latest being from the Federal High Court Kano, before his Lordship Justice A Lewis Aloga, it is not my intention to dwell into this details, however it is our wish that these issues are resolved in the best interest of this industry”.

“We will continue to work with your association and other reliable ones for the development of this industry. May I also use this opportunity to urge you and your members to continue to support the NCS in actualizing in our statutory mandate”. he said

On his part, the National President of ANLCA; Nwabunike while speaking commended the Controller for the able way he has directed the activities of the command, stating that report getting to his office clearly shows that Tincan Command is one of the best in the country in terms of ease of doing business and good relationship with customs agents.

He said that the courtesy visit is in line with ANLCA age long principle of engaging critical stakeholders for better service delivery.

He however also pointed out some areas which he said the service needs to improve upon which includes, Multiplication of Alerts, duplication of Tables at the terminal and ‘Camp boys’ who are office assistants that should facilitate the smooth flow of the process are turning to informants and false whistle blowers, thereby becoming law and order unto themselves among other issues.

In his words: “This courtesy visit is in line with ANLCA age long principle of engaging critical stakeholders for better service delivery. It gives us the opportunity to exchange ideas and chat the way forward which ultimately will ensure ease of doing business in our boarder post.

“I want to commend the Comptroller for the able way he has directed the activities of the command. Report getting to my office clearly shows that Tincan Command is one of the best in the country in terms of ease of doing business and good relationship with our men on the field”.

“Finally, we are appealing that you should cooperate with our people on ground led by Mr Ojo Peter Akintoye, the ANLCA Chairman TCIP to assist the process”, he said.
